TTG Travel Experience
11 October
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Mark your calendars for 11 October at 3:30 p.m. for Data Appeal’s presentation during TTG Travel Experience, in which we’ll delve into sustainable tourism and unveil the Italy Digital Destination 2023 awards.

The Data Appeal Company, supported by Almawave and sponsored by AlmavivA, will again be at TTG Travel Experience, the Italian tourism trade fair held in Rimini from 11 to 13 October. This year, we’re sharing a comprehensive study covering some of the industry’s hot topics – overtourism and sustainable tourism.

Our speech is scheduled for 11 October at 3:30 p.m. in the Global Village Arena at TTG.
Following the presentation by our experts, we’ll proceed to announcing the Italia Destinazione Digitale 2023 awards. Since 2016, these awards have consistently honoured the excellence and online performance of Italian regions and destinations, highlighting those with the most outstanding online reputation.

Turning overtourism into smart tourism

Overcrowding in many destinations makes sustainable tourism even more complex to achieve.

So, how can we redistribute tourist flows more evenly and tap into the untapped resources of an area?

And how can destinations balance the quality of life of residents with the quality of experience of their temporary citizens?

We’ll answer these questions and more during our speech for this year’s TTG Travel Experience:

“Smart Tourism vs. Overtourism | Data and Artificial Intelligence to rebalance local resources”
Wednesday, 11 October at 3:30 p.m. – Global Village Arena

Giovanna Manzi, Senior Vice President of Tourism and Hospitality Advisory, will be taking the stage, along with Mirko Lalli, the CEO and Founder of Data Appeal, and Mario Romanelli, Sales Director for Italy at Data Appeal.

Artificial Intelligence and data analysis open up fresh opportunities for tourism destinations, helping us uncover emerging trends and unexplored potentialities by providing travellers with unique and less crowded experiences. At the same time, they help identify investment potential for supply chain operators. By harnessing data and new technologies, we can transform mass tourism into intelligent and sustainable tourism that showcases the full beauty of our regions.

Mirko Lalli

The Italy Digital Destination 2023 Awards

Following the speech, the eighth edition of the Italy Digital Destination Awards will commence, where we’ll honour destinations that have truly excelled in their online presence.

These awards – sponsored this year by AlmavivA – are the first and only ones in Italy exclusively dedicated to regions and destinations that have excelled in the assessment by travellers and visitors, based on the online perception of their offerings, hospitality, services, and overall experience quality.

All winners are chosen based on the analysis of millions of content published on the web related to accommodation, restaurants and catering, attractions and short-term rentals.

Rankings are drawn up for each award based on the data and online content analysed by algorithms and Artificial Intelligence and according to the company’s proprietary indexes.

These are the prizes that will be awarded this year:

  • Destination with the Best Reputation Award
  • Destination with the Best Gastronomical Offer Award
  • Destination Sustainability Index Award
  • Inclusivity Index Award
  • Destination Most Appreciated by Foreigner Travellers Award
  • European Destination Most Appreciated by Italian Visitors Award
  • Almawave Smart Destination Special Award
  • Secondary City Award
  • Cashless Destination Award
