On June 22, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Data Appeal will host the Smart Destination Day 2026 in Florence for the fourth consecutive year. Organized by the Travel Innovation Observatory of Politecnico di Milano, the event is dedicated to innovation in destination management.
Over the years, the Smart Destination Day has become a key gathering for DMOs, tourism management bodies and destination managers looking to explore how data, artificial intelligence and governance tools can support the sustainable development of destinations.
The event, with Data Appeal as partner and Almaviva as sponsor, will take place at the Nana Bianca Auditorium in Florence, in Piazza del Cestello. It is reserved for the Politecnico supporter community and open to DMO professionals by invitation only.
Participation is free of charge, but subject to accreditation, as places for in-person attendance are limited.
The agenda
- The morning will feature training sessions in English, also available via streaming, alongside the presentation of the Travel Innovation Observatory’s research findings and practical case studies. These will include a session by Data Appeal and Visit Emilia, highlighting a concrete example of a destination that has long used tourism data to guide strategies and decision-making.
- In the afternoon, in-person participants will be invited to join working tables focused on two key topics: sustainability and artificial intelligence, with a practical focus on the challenges and opportunities these areas present for DMOs.
